Position Description

Cabela's is seeking a Human Resources Manager at our Corporate office in Sidney, NE. This position will manage and/or assist with the development and execution of various programs, including but not limited to: policy development, In-Touch process, Drug Testing, communication including email and memo correspondence, employee engagement, awards, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Key tasks will include:

Manage the process to edit, develop and implement company policies and procedures to include our Canada locations. Arrange, facilitate and conduct policy committee meetings. Monitor company-wide compliance. Conduct research and analysis to update policies. Partner with corporate legal for support and legal guidance. Update, track and implement Employee Handbook Changes. Respond to inquiries regarding the handbook. Develop, implement, administer and communicate human resources policies and procedures consistent with policy, laws, and regulations.

Manage day to day activities and timely follow up of any Cabela's In-Touch hotline activity. Prepare monthly metrics on site activity. Partner with division managers to positively resolve, investigate and/or coordinate the response to concerns raised by employees. Establish follow-up message guidelines, process for solving "repetitive" concerns and establish guidelines for confidentiality, etiquette, HIPPA, etc. Improve communication between callers and management.

Run monthly random Drug Test reports to distribute to all sites and follow-up to ensure completion. Administer testing for corporate randoms and new hires. Gather, record and communicate all company results for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post accident, and return to duty employees with the sites. Based upon results determine corrective action to include evaluation, counseling, termination or no hire. Research State laws, identify testing sites and evaluation centers at current and future company locations and develop new policies and procedures where needed. Continually manage drug testing costs and research savings avenues.

Write and edit correspondence for email distribution.

Support all Administrative Department functions to include Employee Engagement, Awards/Recognition, company newsletter and other duties as assigned.

This position requires:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with corporate communication experience preferred.
  • Ability to articulate a vision and then deliver into results.
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Confidentiality is essential.
  • Self-starter with extremely good follow-through skills.
  • Certified in SPHR preferred
  • Bachelors degree and 2-4 years experience in Human Resources or corporate communications.
