Position Description
COURT REPORTER
Arizona Superior Court in CochiseCounty
Salary $41,681 - $49,184 annually plus a competitive benefits package
Position is Open Until Filled 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of court reporting course. Compliance with requirement and tests as set forth in A.R.S. 12-222. Certification to practice court reporting in Arizona pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Title 32, Chapter 40 and Rule 5 of the Arizona Supreme Court Certification Program Administrative Rules. Continuing education is required to maintain Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) status. Yearly seminars and/or accredited college courses as required by the National Shorthand Reporters Association (NSRA) may also be required. Applicant must submit to criminal history background check and fingerprinting.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only)Produces a verbatim record of all proceedings including both words spoken and movements made within the courtroom using a manual shorthand system; reads back any previously recorded spoken testimony during court proceedings; reads stenographic notes; prepares verbatim transcripts in typewritten form from stenographic notes; produces transcripts which involve verbatim dictation, typing and proofreading; types excerpts of testimony when required; remains on call at all times while jury is deliberating to report and or read and or read back proceedings.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
 
Working knowledge of:
courtroom practices and procedures;
legal, medical and various technical terminologies;
the use of reference materials;
business English, spelling and grammar.
Working skill of:
guidelines, regulations, and statutes affecting the department;
stenographic and related court reporting equipment, word processors, microcomputer systems, and other office machines.
Ability to:
establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
follow written and verbal instruction; 
communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
