The Position
The Fresno Superior Court has an employment opportunity for the Facilities Support Services Assistant I classification. This position works to provide a variety of services for the court, including material and equipment transport, installation, and clerical support.
Incumbent in this classification must possess:
Basic Knowledge of:
· General principles and practices used in maintenance, installation and repair.
· Standard safety and safe work practices necessary in the area of work assigned.
· Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics
· Policies and procedures applicable to court operations.
· Basic computer applications.
Ability to:
· Climb ladders and do overhead work
· Push and pull loaded carts
· Load and unload vehicles
· Estimate necessary supplies and materials needed.
· Understand and carry out written and verbal instruction
· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse client population
· Interact with and communicate appropriately with all levels of court staff
· Be flexible and multi-task
· Operate personal computer including various software programs
Basic Skills to include:
· Operate a motor vehicle safely.
· Operate a variety of building trade tools and equipment.
· Basic mechanical repairs
· Maturity, integrity and good judgment
An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment and may remain in effect for up to twelve (12) months; however, the Court reserves the right to vacate the list and re-recruit at any time. The Court also reserves the right to utilize this list for other future vacancies in this classification.
The Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year full-time skilled work experience in maintenance, or full-time paid experience in procurement, office or other support assistant work. OR
Any combination of relevant experience and/or education that would demonstrate that the individual possesses the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities listed above as determined by the Court Executive Officer.
Other:
Possession of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License is required.
Sample of Duties
1. Operates multi-line telephone system; screening, transferring/referring calls or taking messages as needed.
2. Retrieves, opens, sorts and distributes mail
3. Receives minor service calls and dispatches facilities personnel as appropriate.
4. Inputs/updates facilities-related data into computer.
5. Types various forms, correspondence and miscellaneous documents.
6. Installs/hangs various equipment throughout all court facilities.
7. Coordinates and performs the moving of office furniture and equipment as requested.
8. Picks up various items in need of repair and delivers those that have been repaired throughout the court system.
9. Orders tools, ergonomic equipment, keys/access codes and other miscellaneous supplies.
10. Maintains spreadsheets for parking, keys and codes, and cellular phones.
11. Receives delivery of copying machines and trouble shoots as necessary.
12. Facilities set up for enrobing and memorial ceremonies.
13. Facilities set up of Trade Center conference room as requested.
14. Sets up, tests and operates a variety of audio and video equipment.
15. Issues parking placards.
16. Contacts County Facility Services regarding any facilities issues.
17. Contacts the janitorial staff as requested.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
