This position is responsible for providing highly responsive and quality service to customers through the use of multiple system applications, administrative processes, and operational tools. Candidates will possess proven interpersonal, communication and customer service skills to ensure a high quality customer experience.  The incumbent must demonstrate expertise related to one line of business and will have the opportunity to provide customer service on policy administration, benefits, telephonic intake, FML administration, VWB, or individual products on our traditional or Fast Forward platforms.
  
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Able to work a shift between 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday through Friday;
  2. Ability to contribute to team accountabilities in order to meet service level and abandoned rate goals;
  3. Consistently makes an independent business decision in response to customer inquiries;
  4. Ability to evaluate and control situations and offer creative solutions;
  5. Research and respond to external policyholder requests with timely and accurate information;
  6. Ability to meet the average expectations of the quality/productivity standards;
  7. Knowledge and understanding of the Unum business functions;
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree from a four-year college/university preferred
  • Good verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Adaptive/flexible ability to deal with multiple, concurrent and rapidly changing demands
  • Professional phone skills required, coupled with ability to provide quality customer service
  • Ability to multi-task, with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment handling a large volume of calls
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to learn and apply multiple processing and benefit systems effectively
