Major Job Function:
 Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system servers in the MidTier arena (Wintel). Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.  Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.  Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. 

Essential Job Functions:

    1.  Install, configure and maintain the operating systems on all Wintel servers.

2. Performs database and operating system backups regularly, and maintains a dictionary of the backups.
3. Plan, evaluate, install and maintain system software.
4. Perform storage subsystem management.
5. Plan, evaluate and develop DR procedures.
6. Provide Technical support for IS Application, Development, Operations and QA test internal customers.
7. Coordinate activity with outside Vendors.
8. System Performance monitoring and analysis.
9. Perform Capacity Planning tasks.
10. Ensure System Performance meets established SLA metrics.
11. Provide technical training to IS Application, Development and Operations customers.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

3.   Must have an excellent customer service mindset.
4.  Good knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems.
5.  Good knowledge of backup/restore methodology.
6. Good knowledge of Wintel hardware capacities, capabilities and limitations (servers, backup, etc.)
7. Knowledge of Storage Area Networks and different hardware disk RAID levels.
8. Knowledge of server clustering models.
