Position Description
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.       Pricing:
a)         Rate Development: evaluate current rates and develop rates for new products.
b)         Loss Costs: analyze loss costs/factors for various lines.
c)          Individual Risk Pricing: assist in development of rates for large retention policies.
2.       Rate Filing:
Provide actuarial support for state filings.
3.       Special Projects:
Assist and/or lead as assigned; assist in preparation of quarterly reports, development of new product lines and/or programs.
4.       Study for and pass remainder of actuarial exams.
5.       Statistical Reports:
Including but not limited to monthly Soft Market Indicators, Deviation Reports, and RCP Reports; as well as additional ad-hoc reporting from the data warehouse and other sources.
6.       Loss Pick / Experience Rating:
Assist in the development of loss picks through analysis of competitor data, entry and summarization of losses. Act as contact for questions and support for Experience/Loss Rating Specialist position.
7.       Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Vocational Training: Bachelor’s degree; major in math, statistics, actuarial science or related field.
Actuarial career ladder position.
Work Experience: Minimum of two years professional actuarial experience and successful completion of at least two exams.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1.       Knowledge and understanding of Actuarial Science with the ability to understand the scope of the position and its long-range effects.
2.       Knowledge of or ability to learn property/casualty insurance.
3.       Thorough knowledge of mathematics and/or statistics.
4.       Above average analytical and problem solving skills with ability to analyze and compile complex data.
5.       Ability to utilize spreadsheet and database systems including Lotus 123 and Excel.
6.       Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
7.       Ability to think logically and dig for information.
8.       Ability to be a self-starter, quick learner, willing and able to work as needed to get the job done. 
9.       Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multi-task oriented.
10.    Ability to be persistent and accurate.
11.    Able and willing to be flexible, adaptable, and work as a team member and individual contributor.
12.    Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements: 
Ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to comprehend and to use technical/professional language to communicate complex ideas; use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information for unique or unfamiliar situations.
