Position Description

The qualified graduate engineer will be expected to have a good working knowledge of structural design basics. Soil/structure interaction, deep foundations and/or bulkhead design experience or knowledge is a plus. The position will involve designing concrete and steel structures typically around waterfront environments, generating opinions of probable costs, and construction management duties (shop drawing submittal reviews, field / construction observations, processing of pay applications, requests for information and change orders, etc.).
  • This field of engineering is specialized and the successful candidate should have a strong desire to work on projects involving structures associated with Ports, Harbors, Marinas and similar facilities. Continued (formal and informal) education in this sector is a requirement and necessity. He/she will routinely:
  • - Be expected to work on a team and/or work individually. This position will involve working with a variety of personnel including: administrative personnel, CADD technicians, junior and senior engineers, biologists.
  • - Have above average oral and written skills. Must be able to generate written reports with clear thought patterns and organized presentation.
  • - Willing to participate in the development and delivery of oral presentations and ability to work on and prioritize multiple assignments for small to large projects.
  • - Be expected to participate in business development and client relationship efforts.
  • - Be expected to author technical reports or papers and/or actively serve in an engineering related society/organization.
