Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) will engage in full-time advanced research
training under the supervision and direction of faculty sponsor in the sponsor’s research
program of Modifying Lifestyle in Prehypertensive Older Rural Women. PRA’s are supported by
the College and, as appropriate, by the sponsor’s grants. PRA’s must relocate to the
sponsor’s location (Omaha) for active participation in the sponsor’s program of research
and to take advantage of the many interdisciplinary scientific opportunities afforded by
the University. Program goals focus on accelerating the trainee’s entry into a research
career and include: 1) beginning implementing of a program of research; 2) the acquisition
of grantsmanship skills such as written and oral communication, preparation of grant
applications, and administering funded grants; 3) interdisciplinary collaboration with
scientists from other fields; and 4) training in scientific integrity. Expected Outcomes:
1) Demonstration of re Doctorally prepared nurse applicants with evidence of past academic
achievements and scholarly productivity are encouraged to apply. Match of interest with a
UNMC College of Nursing sponsor is paramount. One graduate degree in nursing (master’s or
doctorate) is required.
