The distinguished nurse scholar of this named chair must have significant
scholarly and scientific accomplishments as reflected in a sustained program of scientific
work and significant extramural funding, publications in high-quality, influential
journals, and demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring. The holder of
the Chair should have a regional or national reputation as a leader in nursing. The holder
of the Bertha Pankratz Chair has responsibility for mentoring faculty and graduate students
in scholarly activities and in advancing not only the missions and reputation of the
College of Nursing but also of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Endowed Chairs
are expected to promote a program of innovative scholarship while also advancing the
scholarly missions of the College and the University. Collaborating with scientists from
other disciplines in a program of funded scientific work is an expectation. Mentoring
students and faculty in their career Qualifications for the position include evidence of a
sustained program of distinguished scholarship, eligibility for the rank of Associate or
Full Professor, and RN licensure in Nebraska.
