Our lab is interested in different stem cell approaches to treat degenerative
retinal diseases such as the age related macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision
loss among the elderly. Our lab has identified stem cells in adult ciliary epithelium and
retina, alternative sources of retinal progenitors in the ES and adult limbal cells, and
characterized some of the regulatory mechanisms. We have four postdoctoral positions
available immediately in retinal stem cell biology and applications, including for the use
of stem cells for drug discovery, to understand and treat retinal degeneration. We are
looking for applicants with a strong background in cell and molecular biology and expertise
in transplantation is desirable. Information about our lab is available at
http://www.unmc.edu/ophthalmology/Ahmad/ Ph.D./expecting Ph.D. within a year (proof needed)
